Natural Breaks and Rhythms is the powerful debut by emerging writer, Julius Ayodeji.
Against the back-drop of nineties Britain, the play tells the story of Beats and Cold, two ambitious DJs.
Raised as brothers, they are gaining a serious reputation in the music industry. They have found a new sound -Jungle- and it’s going to be massive! At first the chemistry between them produces gold… The tension build up beat by beat as Beats turns into the ambitious producer, and Cold, the ‘bedroom genius’, fights for the space to be a true artist.
In the background are the boys’ Trinidadian fathers, struggling together to make a life for their two sons, and caught up in the middle of their conflict. It is an intense portrait of friendship, betrayal and the impact one generation has on the next.
Combining theatre with a live DJ set and video projection, Natural Breaks and Rhythms is a gripping new play from an exciting new writer.
