“At some point in every young person’s life there comes a moment where life just seems like pure, unadulterated fun; when all your troubles disappear and ‘the world is your oyster’, so to speak. These periods of pleasure don’t last long, but when you hit them you know that you’ve arrived. For me, those periods usually come in the summer months, when late drunken nights with friends are the epitome of what youth is -watching the sunrise, walking the streets at 4am. Sam’s Game is in part a dramatisation of some of the fun I had in those carefree times, at the height of my adolescent years with the threat of adulthood creeping up on me. But I hope that underneath this playful exterior it is also the story of a beautiful friendship, first love and the sorrow that parting company brings”.

Sam’s Game by Nottingham playwright Jake Brunger opened at the Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham, on Wednesday 24th August 05 as part of the 2005 edition of the Momentum Festival.
